▶ Your Answer : Some people believe that advertisement targeting children under five years old is fine to be permitted. Perhaps, for me, I strongly agree with the statement that young under five shouldn't be exposed to advertisement. There are two reasons why I feel this way. Advertisement would likely lead young to purchase unnecessary goods and also children sometimes misunderstand ommercials.
First of all, children who are under five can't distinguish whether the goods are reall necessary for them or not. To be specific, when they watch TV, commercials only show its distinctive tratis and enjoying performances through it. FIt comes to children withe big impact and they are easily persuaded to buy the item on TV. For example, my cousin who was just for years old bought a toy that was advertised on TV. After fewdays of playing with it, he god bored of the toy. Those items drastically increase in demand once the Advertisement targeting under five is produced. However, according to the company's sales report, many of children were persuaded with the advertisement with ease and then got bored of it so easily as well. Children are likely charmed to the Ad so easily and this entails unnecessary purchases.
Second, children can be persuaded with the wrong fact shown in commercial. Under five years old, they tend to believe in what they perceptively see and it sometimes causes an unrecoverable accident. For instance, I read a news article which was to accuse the company about the baby's death caused bt its Superman costume suit. The baby was charmed with the fact the wearing the Superman suit would make him fly so he wore them and jumped over the window from 4th floor high. As shown in this, youngsters under five mininterpret the Tv advertisemnet wheter the showing is the real or fake.
To conclude, I firmly think that TV commercials shouldn't be directed toward children under the age of five.Compared to adults, they are not fully developed to think which items are necessary for them and easily misinterpret the fact from the graphics shown in TV. |
