▶ Your Answer : Today, there are various ways to learn for myriad kinds of education and knowledge. Also, there has been a lot of emphasis put on education, since it is one of the most important aspect of success. Some argue that the best way to learn is from fellow members such as peer group or co-workers. However, I disagree with this idea because they tend to stay within the boundary of limitation and it is less effective way of learning. To start with, those of them who try to learn from someone at the same level, a lot of times, show certain limitation in terms of quality of learning as well as quantity of it. When learning something, we often learn something new or beyond our capacity of current knowledge or experience. And those of them are very hard to learn if the subject from whom we learn does not have enough knowledge and experience to be able to think outside that mold. And we can not expect 5th graders to know the difference between democracy and communism, and even if he academically understands that concept, without knowing how it is practiced in real world, it is hardly expected that he/she can convey what it means to be democratic and vice versa. Thus, learning something not only requires one to have technical concept but he has to have certain level of practical experience as well. And those at the same level not only do not have much higher level of technical knowledge but also he is lack in real time experience. On top of that, learning from same level also creates ineffectiveness in time consuming and productivity. Learning requires a lot of work. First, one has to know where to find target information and he also has to check the validity of that found knowledge. Not only that, among found information, he has to decide which piece of information he will use and which to trash. This long and tedious process takes a lot of time and energy, which definitely can be spent on something more practical such as finding more information. On the other hand, if the person has already been that path knowing which place has the best source of information and whether everything carried in it is proven fact. Then we don't have to go though those unnecessary process and time can be spent much wisely. For example, there was one incident which exemplifies this in my life. When I was working on human's intestine process with my friends at school. We didn't even know which part of work to start with, which book to look at, which library to go to. Luckily, one of us had a father who is a doctor, and he gave all the information based on his own experience when he was a student. Consequently, we ended up getting A on the mark and we still thank him for him. To conclude, while learning from someone with same level sometimes more fun, given that they can talk on the same level and have a lot of things in common, because it is not as effective, qualitative, and quantitative, it is always the best to learn from something beyond our capacity. |
