▶ Your Answer :
An intriguing
topic of discussion at hand is whether people should get information from
various news sources in order to stay well-informed. The answer to this
question varied depending on individual perspectives. Thus, the jury still be out,
but as far as I am concerned, I agree with this statement. In this essay I will
present two reasons supporting my standpoint as follows.
To begin with, people might
have wrong information when people get information from only one source.
As society gets fiercer,
many people feel confused among conflicting views and perspectives. Lacking
enough information and knowledge, some people cannot learn proper information.
In this regard, various sources enables people to have a balanced view and
leads us to better understanding of the issue people found interesting. Let me
use my experience as an example. In 2008, there were financial crisis in Korea.
In this period I tried to figure out what was it going by reading only economic
textbooks. For the first time, I did not know the resulting recession swept the
world economy. It means I think the recession was a Korean problem. Because my textbook
was full of complicated and abstract theories that did not seem related to the
issue and explained only economic setting in Korea. After I searched a slew of
news and get advises from professor, I found out that there was no exception in
the globe. This clearly indicates that people might have uncertain information
if people refer to only one source.
On top of that, getting
information from various sources allows people to broaden their horizon.
A few weeks ago, I happened
to read a tweet on the twitter regarding the issue I found interesting. It was
breadth and depth of how information affects people. A significant number of
people responded that people feel they are more knowledgeable when they get
much information from many sources. Even suprisng to me was the diversity of
sources on which people seek information such as news, google, social network
service, etc. The tweet was heavily retweeted since the message resonated with
people. In this sense, I think getting information diversely is a great way to
get more knowledge and understanding.
In
conclusion, I strongly argue for my standpoint on account of two reasons as
mentioned above. Once again, the verdict may still be out, I firmly believe
that two of my rationales are sufficiently convincing enough to represent
viewpoints of a majority of people who are in favor my claim.
