▶ Your Answer :
An intriguing topic of discussion at hand
is whether one can learn about another person from the books and movies the
person likes. The answer to this question may vary, depending on the individual
perspectives. Thus, the jury may still be out, but as far as I am concerned, I
disagree with the statement. In this essay, I will present two reasons
supporting my standpoint as follows.
Firstly,
many people want direct relationship between them rather than indirect one. In
other words, people want to know others with face-to-face meeting, not through
superficial means such as the books and movies. According to a research
conducted by Seoul National University, being able to learn about another
person in person is considered the most top satisfying and conclusive aspect
the contributes to 75% of respondents reporting high gratification and
significance behind their reasoning. Also, in stark contrast, only less than
25% of the respondents claim unimportance of it. Thus, this status quo
represents that one does not want to and cannot learn about another person from
indirect ways like the books and movies.
Secondly,
these days, there are other methods to be able to learn about another person,
and especially using the internet is the best one. Internet access has been
widely available for many people. In other words, a large number of the private
internet providers not only exist on the market, but there are a wide range of
meeting services on the internet like chatting programs as well. Since
competition between companies is very intense, we now have many options for
accessing the internet and using the meeting systems easily and cheaply.
According to a research conducted by Yonsei University, 95 percent of
households already have a broadband connection, and they have ever utilized the
meeting programs in home at least once. Furthermore, that statistics does not
even take into account the extent of wireless access, such as in subways, cafes,
and libraries. Most of these public locations allow wireless connection for
portable devices such as laptops and cellphones. Thus, using the internet and
these items, people can learn about others with ease.
In
conclusion, I strongly argue for my standpoint on account of the two reasons
mentioned above. Once again, although the verdict may still be out, I
personally believe that two of my rationales are sufficiently convincing enough
to represent the viewpoints of people who are in favor of my claim.
