▶ Your Answer : Some people think that the news media is trustworthy source of unbiased information. However, in my opinion, The information from the news media can be biased. This is attributed to the fact that anyone can access to it, and the opinion or subject the media deal with can be different by people who use it. First of all, the news media is very accessible so that any person can see the information and share it.In other words, it's hard to say that the information from anyone can be trustworthy. Compared to the infromation in a printed book, news media is less professional owing to the fact that it cannot be checked before it comes out. For example, I usually get thought or source of society or politic, and few days ago, I saw a post on facebook about the cruelty in Brazil that the government cleaned up the poor's houses and killed citizens in order to make a good looking environment for 2014 Brazil Worldcup. There were pictures related to that title, and the pictures showed that the military shot a boy in the street who looked shabby. That was very shocking and the posting was spread out very fast. People where panicked because of that posting. However, after few weeks, I heard that the news on facebook was made by someone, and the pictures were not current one but the one from Seria War. This shows that the information on the media is hard to believe. On top of that, according to a type of media, the users' age is different. Even though people can easily use an internet material now a days, there are others who cannot or don't want to use it. This affects the information's opinion or the things those media deal with to be sujective. A statistic has shown that the age of facebook or instagram users are mostly from teens to the 30s. It means that the information or thoughts on those media are from them. Hence, although the conversation and sharing thoughts are very fast and alive, it can be one sided opinion. This is because if the information tends to be unbiased, it should embrace opinions by various age people. On the contrary, the internet media cannot do it so it's easy to be tilted on one side. For instance, a person uploaded her anxiety about her marriage on the internet but people who replied to her were teens. Thus their answers were too aggressive and unrealistic. This reveals that the news media is hard to follow because the useres are from the group of specific age. To sum up, the news on the media is often unbiased because anyone can be an information provider, and the people who use those media are mostly from narrow range of age. In this regard, it's hard to rely on the source from media. |
