I agree with the statement that nowaday young people do not give enough time to helping their communities. As time goes by,more young people tend to become selfish and indifferent to others as well as their communities. Is it solely because they are getting busier than old people? There will be many unknown
reasons, but I think that it is mostly on account of lack of sympathy and prevalece of selfishness.
Above all, one of the most biggest reasons that young people nowadays tend to less help others is that they are getting not to feel compassion for those who are needy. In an old era, peple felt sorry for the
poor people with sincere heart and were willing to help them with sharing food and money; also,
they wholeheartedly took pity on sick people and comforted and worried together. In contrast, young people nowaday are becoming indifferent to others' concerns and only care about themselves.
Perhaps the dried emotion may be caused from reduced-direct interaction between one another. In fact, young people are accustomed to interact with computers or iphone, rather than between other people
face to face.
In addition, I see volunteer groups with young people increasingly diminishing compared to the old days. Previously there were scores of helping groups in my community , which used to visit orphanages or old people's houses regualrly for helping children or old people with cleaning or spending time together.
However, it is getting hard to see any free volunteering groups nowaday. This may be relevant to prevalent selfishness. More young people are interested in only their safty and satisfaction; moreover,
some young people do not even understand other's difficulties and plights.
Unfortunately, I have to agree that nowdays young people do not try to give their time to helping others as well as communities. They tend to no longer take pity on the needy and are busy only caring about themselves. |
