▶ Your Answer :There might be some people who believe that
modern technology takes no roles in creating a single world culture. However, I
personally disagree with the above idea for the two subsequent reasons;
developments of communication and transportation. To begin with, the improvement of
communication technology contributes to create a single world culture. To
illustrate, the advance of communication makes almost everyone in the world
connected to each other by means of the internet or smart phones. Especially,
thanks to social network service such as facebook and twitter, you can quickly get
a lot of news and information from all around the word, which allows people to
share the same thought not depending on their location. Let me bring up my
personal story as an example. There was a terrible accident in Boston recently,
and almost everyone might be announced from the TV news program. However, one
of my friend lived in Boston immediately wrote on facebook about the accident,
and I heard the news from facebook faster than the TV program. If it hadn't
been for facebook, I couldn't have heard the news that fast.
In addition, there is another important element
which creates one big culture: transportation. To be specific, you can go to every
country in a single day, which was impossible before the advent of the fast and
useful transportation. According to a recent study of professor Kim in Seoul
National University, the number of world conferences has increased 50% over the
past 50 years. He mentioned on his report that the development of airplanes is
one big significant reason of this result. This study clearly shows that
transportation improvement truly makes a single world culture.
In conclusion, the means of communication
and transportation makes our life faster, and they make the world share one
culture. For these reasons, I firmly believe that a single world culture is
created by modern technology. |
