▶ Your Answer :
the reading and the lecturer both talk about nuclear energy. the reading says that there are several concerns about the use of nuclear. however, the lecturer argues that the concerns mentioned in the reading are not convincing.
firstly, the reading states that there are many health concerns about neclear energy because of the radioactive material within the power plant. on the other hand, the lecturer argues that there are solutions about those problems. for example, to protect people from the overheating, a proper design is made and this redesigned reactor slows down the speed of reaction, so the plant is not overheated.
secondly, in the reading, the author argues that nuclear plants are very expensive. Although the lecturer admits that argument, he maintains that these plants are cheap enough in the long term. the reason for this is that only the construction cost is expensive, and these plants will care for a long time. thus, the lecturer concludes that the nuclear power has reasonable price.
thirdly, the reading goes on to say that cheaper and better energy resources like wind turbines already exist. however, the lecturer contradicts that opinion, arguing that wind powere is not reliable. this is becuse wind is not stable source of energy, so it will need another resource. |
