There has been an ongoing debate over the pros and cons of evaluation on teachers. Some people point out that teachers have to be paid as much as their students learn. Others, however, believe that it is not good because of several reasons. I agree with the former stance because of following two reasons: it will be an motivation of teachers and make competition.
First of all, teachers are able to teach students more effectively since they will be motivated by pay. The most important role of teachers is to teach students knowledge. By paying along with the students' learning rate, the relationship between the teachers and the students become win-win situation. According to the survey conducted by Seoul National University in 2005, students' grades and satisfaction in some private schools paying teachers according to students' learning rate are higher than common schools. This shows that paying teachers depends on leaning rate motivate teachers and it will be connected satisfaction.
On top of that, this method will bring competition among teachers and competition is a crucial role in capitalism. Most of nations today hold capitalism because they already know that competition allow our society to be more affluent. In this sense, competition between teachers in school also will be conducive to the whole education. I believe that a competent teacher should be paid more, as a competent businessman earn a lot of money.
To sum up, everyone may hold a different position on this issue. However, all things considered, I firmly believe that, it is better to pay to teachers as much as their students learn because of motivation and competition of teachers. |
