University’s (the) main reason is
to learn (in university) a specialized field (is) so that students increase their knowledge of
their own field. Based on this opinion, some people think taking as many
classes (as possible) for students’ own subjects
as possible is very important.
However, there are other different
opinions that taking various kinds of subjects are better for university
students. In my opinion, I think taking many different classes is better for
students due to three reasons.
Firstly, taking different kinds of classes
can widen students’ background knowledge. By taking different kinds of classes,
students can learn various kinds of background knowledge. Understanding
different knowledge and experience(ing) different
subjects are very useful not only for students’ background knowledge but also (for) studying their own subjects. Taking subjects of different fields can be background
knowledge. Creative idea of Steve Jobs, one of the best well known
CEO(s) in the world, is based on his (had) knowledge
about (on) liberality
(What’s liberality?). Although he starts his
company with computer programmer background,
he could create beautiful products because he could mix the technique with
liberality which he had taken from a university class. Likewise, learning about (learn =
in-depth / learn about = superficial) different field can finally help
learn or apply to students’ own field.
Secondly, university students can
communicate with others with different interest and knowledge by having various
kinds of classes. No one would agree that studying one’s major is the only
reason that universities exist. There are several other important roles for (of) universities
and learning communication skills is one of them. Communication skill is very
important during people’s life and universities are very good place to learn
about it. By taking different classes, students can take part in a variety of
team works such as making a report with their team members or going to the
historical places with team members during a history class. While students try
to do their own part during different kinds of classes, they can learn how to
communicate with others, how to solve
discuss with others, and how to solve problems when
argues occur (in case of argument).
These activities are definitely helpful for students.
Finally, students can make sure their major
is really what they want while they take other classes. Many students enter
universities because they want to learn more about what they are interested in.
However, not all students choose a right major that they really want to learn.
Some students finally understand that they did not like the major they are
taking after entering universities and learn about their special field. Others
change their mind because they find some field that are more interesting than
the field the students (they) are now taking. Students can quickly fix these
mistakes by taking different subjects during the very first season (semester? Year?).
By taking different subjects, students can really know what they are interested
in, and if they really want to keep or change
their major. In this manner, studying other fields would be useful.
All three reasons
are necessary (are the) reasons for
students to learn about knowledge that are not directly related to their own
major. Learning other majors will finally help students’ own major. Also,
students can learn better communication skills and experience other students
with different background. Students can understand if their major is what they
really need to learn. For these reasons, I think learning other classes with
different subjects are important for students’ university life.
(This essay is neatly written in
terms of dividing ideas in a comprehensible manner. However, improving grammar
and vocabulary will greatly better the current writing skill you showed. Nice
work!)
