▶ Your Answer :
In today`s society, it is widely believed that children should begin
learning a foreign language as soon as they start school. Some people advocate
that, however, I disagree with this view. I firmly believe that the learning a
foreign language is not necessary for kids when they start school. This is
because first, learning a foreign language induces stress for kids who have weak
mental health system. Second, there are more important activities they need to
learn at this period.
First of all, if they start learning a
foreign language right after they start school, it definitely causes kids to
get stressed because attaining a language skill is very difficult. Stress is
the main cause of diseases, short life span, and dissatisfying life. Especially,
stress is more fatal for children than adults because children`s immune system
is weaker than adult`s one. For example, a friend of mine was forced to begin
learning an English as soon as he started school. No long after, he started to
lose interest due to its difficulty, which caused him big stress that he had
been never experienced. So, he is now suffering mental disorder due to stress.
Through this experience, it proved to me that learning a foreign language is
very hard process for kids.
Second, there are more important activities
and subjects for children rather than learning a foreign language. When children
start school, this period is very important for them because they are able to learn
interpersonal skills through various activities such as sports, music clubs.
However, if they started learning a foreign language at this period, they would
have probably spent large amount of their time studying a foreign language. As
a result, they wouldn`t be able to have enough time to learn these important
skills. According to study done by New York Times, it revealed that people who
are good at sports are more likely to become leader in society. This is because
they have already learned interpersonal skills by taking part in various sports
club when they were younger. Therefore, it is clear that learning a foreign
language is not necessary for kids when they start school. All things
considered, it is my belief that my argument regarding this topic has been
effectively and precisely delivered with the reasons mentioned above. Never
should we forget.
