▶ Your Answer :
It is debatable whether it is more important for students to study history and literature than science and mathematics. This is an intriguing question because opinions concerning this can be different relying on individual perspectives. In my opinion, however, I disagree with the statement for the following subsequent two reasons. To begins with, knowledge about science and math is more useful in daily life. Scientific information would allow people to have convenient lives by applying science principle properly. In addition, mathematics knowledge also makes people spend their money efficiently when they purchase some commodities. For example, when I buy something I needed, I always write the record on my note. It is useful because I can monitor the flow of my money., and I use mathematics principle such as multiplication or division when I calculate it. This allows me to get it done easier and faster. On top of that, people can have more job opportunities by learning science and mathematics. As technologies have developed these days, a lot of companies and facilities which do research for advanced technology came out to the world. Accordingly, they need more people who have enough knowledge to conduct these researches. Therefore, students who studied science and math would be relatively easier to get a job. For instance, when I got into university, an engineering major which use mainly science and mathematics is the most popular major in my country. This was because this major was the easiest way to get employed by companies. Some might say that learning history and literature major is the most important because this would make people know about the meaning of the human's life. However, considering the difference in the employment rate between two majors, it is evident that science and mathematics knowledge is more helpful to people living in modern society. In a nutshell, people can use science and mathematics knowledge more practically in their everyday lives. Moreover, studying science and math would offer a higher chance of getting employed. In this regard, I firmly disagree with the statement I mentioned above. |
