Some people might take it for granted that leadership is decided when ones were born, which means not everyone can be a leader. However, I disagree with above idea for two subsequent reasons. The first reason is that the leadership can be improved by practicing and the requirements to be a leader varied in situation.
To begin with, practicing on and on can allow one to become a leader. It can be true having natural characteristics such as having confidence and managing others to become a leader is helpful, but this does not mean people without these personalities can not be a leader. People can develop these characteristics by taking part in diverse activities and become a leader in small group. For example, when I was freshman in middle school, I was chosen for a group leader for discussion in English class. At first, it was difficult for me to make others to speak in their opinions and manage discussions effectively. I prepared for the discussion in advance and practiced continually in home. In the end, I got accustomed in leading discussions and even group members praised me a lot.
On top of that the requirements of characteristics to be a leader is different on groups. This is due to the fact that group leaders in outdoor activities such as sports team would require active personalities, but those in indoor activities such as reading books do not require for having active things. In other words, people do not need to have personalities of confidence and managing skills. For example, a leader should have inclinations of good communication and good soccer skills in my university. On the contrary, study group take it priority in having meticulous personalities and trying to be hard every time over having active personalities.
To sum up, the leadership even people who did not have in nature can be developed through the practice and the requirements are regarded differently depends on groups. In this regard, I believe that the leadership does not come naturally. |
