▶ Your Answer :
Both the reading passage and the listening are discussing the topic of the zebra's pattern. However, their perspectives are different. The reading argues that there are three theories why the zebra's striped patterns have a certain purpose to survive from their predators, while the professor in the listening disagrees and says otherwise. Firstly, the reading states that the stripes on the zebra's skin make predators like lions misled that their prey is closer. The passage also notes that a lion tries to leap toward the zebra to capture it, but it is too short for the lion to reach it. On the other hand, the professor debunks the claim by stating that the lions do not leap to their prey to capture them.
Secondly, the writer further describes that the repeated stripe patterns confuse predators. According to the writer, it is hard for a lion to discern individual zebra among the herds. However, the listening contradicts by saying that predators have also adapted to the survival environment of nature so they are able to catch their prey overtimes.
Finally, the reading asserts that the zebra uses their stripes to blend in with the background, tall grass. The passage also insists that the zebra cannot easily be preyed by predators because when the zebra blend in with the surroundings, it is hard for predators to detect the animal at some distance. Once again, the listening argues otherwise by stressing that the zebra does not try to hide behind the long grass. the animal had rather expose itself to predators.
