Some people think that it is beneficial to watch TV for learning. However, in my opinion, reading books is a much more efficient way for learning than watching TV. My reasons for this are that people can imagine while they read books, and if they watch TV, they are not going to have a time for thinking about what they have seen in the TV.
To begin with, people are going to imagine what they have read in the books. This is because, books usually don’t provide sound and visual effects. For example, my mother used to force me to read books a lot when I was a little kid. I didn’t recognize I had such a great creative thinking before I got prized in a creative thinking test in my elementary school. I also got great grades in art and music class, which need creative thinking. As a result, reading books enable me to have ability to think creatively.
On top of that, it would be hard to have long term memories about what people watched in TV. To explain, people will not have a time for thinking about what they watched in TV because people cannot stop TV programs while they are watching. By the way, people can find information that they do not understand in the book. For instance, I had hard time to understand when I was watching a scientific movie. I found information about what I didn’t understand by using my smart phone, but I missed most of the movie. Since I missed many parts of the movie, I don’t remember anything about the movie now. However, people who read books can have enough time for searching.
In conclusion, as I mentioned above, I would read books for learning rather than watching television.
