There may be pros and cons regarding the argument that young people enjoy life more than older people do. I am in complete agreement with this argument. In this paper, I elaborate on the two strong reasons for my position.
My first argument for young people’s joyful life should be espoused. Having more free time and spending time on fun activities is actually entertaining, and, therefore makes people laugh and fills them with happiness and joy. Today’s society moves and changes at a very fast pace, so young people are driven by hectic lifestyles. As a result, young people often feel drained and gloomy because their lives are occupied by increasing amounts of work. Many of them, therefore, relieve some of their stress by doing fun activities such as going on a travel for a long vacation. In this context, young people are satisfied with their lives more than older people are. My personal experience is a prime example. On a day-to-day basis, I bury myself in homework, and I am occupied with homework-related matters throughout the day. Even worse, I am eager to be on good terms with my teachers and classmates, which makes me utterly exhausted by the smallest things. I then take a trip abroad during my vacation to reduce my anxiety. To my surprise, I can unwind and successfully escape from my stressful daily routine. Furthermore, I feel galavanized and ready for another day of struggle.
Moreover, my strong support for happy life of young people can be rationalized. Because young people have more free time, they can enjoy fun activities with others, which help them develop solid relationships with other people. In today’s rat-race society, young people feel pressured to beat the competition and spend more and more hours on work. As a result, they are hard-pressed for time and thus become alienated from their families and friends. In this context, doing fun activities together and sharing happy moments helps them restore relationships with others. Therefore, young people are likely to enjoy their lives than older people. According to a recent CNN daily podcast (2013), four-fifths of the respondents said that they could rebuild their ties with their families and friends through fun activities such as overseas tour during long vacation. The respondents argued that with the help of long overseas tour, they could interact with families and friends and develop close bonds, which increases emotional attachments.
Because of the reasons explained above, I strongly maintain that the enjoyable life of young people should be recommended within the unique context of today’s society. |
