Along with inexorable technological advance, online networking system has become one of the most valuable resources in humanity. More and more people are highly dependent on using the internet for various purposes, and the access to the Internet becomes signigicant issue in almost every contemporary society. Accordingly, some argue that the government needs to invest more on broadening Internet access than developing public transportation systems. On the other hand others claim that the government investment should be more focused on the public transportation. My personal rationale on the issue is that spending more money to expand access to the online networking system has much more significance than investing on public transportation. Among the innumeralbe reasons, there are two most cogent and logical facets that need to be considered.
The primary fundamental contention behind my rationale is that the access to the Internet becomes crucial in 21st century. As the world is digitalized with dramatic technological improvement, the number of computer users have drastically increased. Needless to say, most computer users these days utilize the Internet which contains a wide range of online services on a daily basis. Since the Internet becomes almost essentially useful tool for various tasks, more works are handled and completed with the Internet with practical conveinece. So, based on the fact that the wide usage of the Internet, the government definitely should invest huge amount of money on the access to the Internet. If there are appropriate amount of investment on the Internet access, more people would be able to get the Internet connection, creating numerous benefits. The most noticeble gain is that information sharing becomes much more convenient, thus more people especially living in rural areas can get the information such as news quickly and conveniently. From this perspective, investing on access to Internet is essentially important.
An additional aspect that needs to be considered is that the government does not necessarily have to invest huge amount of finance on public transportation. This is mainly because public transportation industry could be financially stabled by fees paid by passengers. For instance, all the passengers need to pay certain amount of fee as they board the public transportation. From this boarding fees which is also same as an individual's investment, the public transportation industry can take a stable position at least financial wise. Surely, it is beneficial for citizens to have better public transportation with more convineint facilities. However, comparing between investment on industry of public transportation and on the valuable Internet access, Internet access is far outweigh in necessity and user rate aspect.
All in all, aforementioned reasons with several examples illustrate my point that investment on access to the Internet is more important than on public transportation. Even if the investment of public transportation is actually necessary, we cannot ignore the significance of the Internet access in this global society. The government evidently should take a serious consideration into investment on access to the Internet for the citizens. |
