▶ Your Answer :
Some people say that advice from friends of same age is more valuable than advice which is given by older person. However, in my perspective, getting help from people who are older than you is more trustful than given advices from friend, and there are two reasons why.
First of all, quality of advice depends on the person’s experience who gives advice. Therefore, advice from elders is more trustworthy than some advice which is given by one’s friend of same age. For example, I had several problems with some of my friends when I was attending on middle school. I could not find any solutions to the problems, so I asked to both of my friends and parents to give me suggestions. At first, I thought that my parents would not give me proper advice since they’re too old to sympathize to my problems. However, my parents give me advice that is more useful than I get from my friends. In fact, my parents also had hard times when they were students. The advices I get, such as listen carefully when other people are speaking or give several gifts to friends, were more helpful than the advices that my friends gave.
On top of that, the amount of knowledge that a person learns through his life takes great influence on one’s depth of thinking. Hence, worth of advices would be affected by one’s knowledge. For instance, accuracy of answers which were given by my friends and teachers were different. I ask my friends often when I face hard questions on study guide, and sometimes, my friends gave me a correct answer. However, when I visited my teacher for advice on math problems, I noticed that teachers are much better than my friend on explaining questions. My teacher taught me not only the answer of the problem, but also leading process of getting the answer.
To conclude, difference on amount of knowledge and experiences that one has gleaned during his life affects greatly on quality of advice. Therefore I firmly believe that people should get advice from the people who are older than you rather than your like-aged friends. |
