There is a time when we need to decide important decision which can brought up significant change in our life. Some people often claims that we should not decide such important decision without anyone's advice by saying, 'Two heads are better than one'. However, as far as I am concerned, I strongly believe that when we make really important decision, it is better to decide alone rather than taking advice from many people for two reasons: the person is the one who has responsibility in that decision, and discussing with too many people might even confuse determinant. To begin with, no one can take the responsibility from the decision the person made. It is the person who is mostly affected from the determination. For example, I went to a french restaurant that I am not used to it. All my friends recommended me their favorite food there and told me other friend's recommendation is not good choice. Eventually, I chose the one that majority of friends recommended which is most expensive one. But, after I tried the food, its sauce was made of cocoa powder that I have allergy in. So, I couldn't even eat the food at all, suffered from the throat pain, and paid expensive bill. In this sense, responsibility only comes to the decision maker not advisers. Like this, since, I am the one who finally made decision, it is me who is responsible for the result. In this sense, responsibility only comes to the decision maker not advisers. On top of that, talking with many people when it is hard to make determination can cause confusion to the decision maker. This is because people have different value in their life which bring many different reasons why they think the advice they made is reasonable. There is also saying that, 'Too many cook spoils the food' which means, too many different people's advice can make negative outcomes. In order to give more detail, according to a research done by Penn state university, they reported that after people took advice and discussed with their friends or relatives, they unconsciously depended on advisor's decision and opinion. This is because, when people are not certain about decision making, they have tendency to think what their advisor says is more in sense. But, actually those advisors can not really put themselves in the sitiation like the person in trouble, resulting giving advice without any worriness or side effects of the decision they made because the determinant will not bring any harmful results to them. If people make determination by themselves, they do not have to worry about these confusions. To sum up, the advise is nothing more than other people's opinion. Final decision maker cannot share responsibility, and can even suffer from the confusion through discussing with many people. In this regards, I firmly believe making decision should be decided alone. |
