▶ Your Answer :
It is often said that internet is sea of information.
Some people might argue that information which you can find on internet is
priceless. This is attributed to fact that anyone who can access internet can
easily find information in various topics. Contrary to their belief, numerous
data on the internet can affect to people in bad way; giving fake information
and making hard to distinguish important information.
First, people can be tricked by fake information. As
people can hide their identity in internet space, many people write about
information which is not accurate. In addition, people who get that information
on the internet cannot distinguish if it is true or not. So many rumors made on
internet and spread very fast. For example, there was an suicidal case in Korea last year.
A popular actress killed herself because of sexual rumors on the Internet.
Police found out that the rumors had started from a fake diary of 15 years old
boy. Information can be delivered in wrong way on internet.
Second, It is very hard to find out useful information.
There are too many sources and writers of information on the internet. Just a
small number of information is important and it is difficult to check
everything to find out which one is useful. Thus, It irritates focusing on topics
that we wanted to find out. Books are much better material to find out
information than internet. According to the research conducted by the Korean ministry
of youth in 2012, there was huge difference between two groups of students in relation their rates of
achievement. Students in Group A got books to work on their project and those
in Group B got a computer access to internet. The researchers showed that the
former group spent 15% less time to do their homework and performed higher than
the latter group. In particular, the students in Group A found accurate
information, read text fast, understood context well. On the other hand, those
in Group B dozed off and lacked focusing while working on class material. It
can be inferred that using internet to get information, especially while
studying, is not an affective way to get important information.
All in all, the
importance of my view cannot be underestimated in that it can kill two birds
with one stone for the reason I mentioned above. Because of wrong and too much
information on the internet, people better not to rely on internet too much.
