▶ Your Answer : It is often said that in the future, nation that possess the technology related to outer space will have more power than others in the world. However, I firmly believe that we had better focus on resolving earth problems rather than investing budget into a field of space in terms of cost-effectiveness and urgency. To begin with, numerous countries expending their money on developing space, they have yet to get promising results. This is attributed to the fact that speding money on unknown area such as space is less cost-efficient than we expected. According to a study conducted by Seoul National University of Korea in 2008, among 13 countries spending more than a billion dollars on exploring space, only two countries were able to draw trivial but positive effects. The researchers showed that the others nations were exhausting their budget without hopeful results. This implies that we should contemplate on taking the exploration of universe into account because of cost-effectiveness. In addition, presently, we are encountering various problems on earth such as overcoming today's energy crisis that is more emergent than making an exploration of cosmos. This is due to the fact that traditional energy sources such as fossil fuels is running out and thus becoming increasingly expensive. That is why I suggest that we should come up with a permanent solution such as alternative energy sources since it has no limit in the usable amount. Besides such energy problems, we have other matters such as improving the environmental condition on earth and starvation in Africa. In fact, these problems can elicit more immediate response and result in positive impact more quickly. The gap between procedure and result is relatively short. For these reasons, expending money on such problems, we will have a quite brighter future. In brief, we usually thinking universe is unknown yet and not fully understood, developing universe is likely to look great and fantastic. However, it is less cost-effective way for us to spend money and efforts. Rather, we do our best to solve closer problems we are now facing. |
