In today's complicated society, it is believed that most advertising is limited to selling common goods like cell-phone or cosmetic goods. Some people advocate that not only a country but also the world become one city because the more increasing merchandises or services which have certain brand names become globally, the more decreasing things that have local images are. However, I disagree with this view. There are still lots of advertisements which include local or national images even if it is a quite hard for us to perceive them. These advertisements entreat the festival or their own local foods and also we can guess the geographical peculiarity of a region through the frequent number of specific goods advertised in media.
First of all, many regions appeal travelers to visit their spots or to purchase their local foods. In specific, they always strive for informing many people of themselves because if they can accumulate attention from many people about something special, it allows governments to support them to develop more and keep it. So it can result in continuously contributing to their economy's activation. For example, in case of my town Cheon-an, its famous local food is walnut cookie. So many people come up with my city whenever they think about walnut cookie. It makes the chances for them to visit Cheon-an.
Secondly, we can assume where is their geological location via certain advertisements. In other words, many adverts imply the properties about a country or a region. It is because the frequent number which particular kind of goods are broadcasted in shows whether the region is proximity to ocean or mountain also it is big city or not. For example, areas nearby ocean predominately produce foods such as fish or salts. However, regions located in adjacent to mountain advertise mainly goods like vegetables or fruits. So it shows that advertisement make people be able to guess the peculiarity of regions.
In conclusion, it is my belief that advertising can tell us many things about a country. As stated, it is because most regions endeavor to draw travelers and sell their local foods through advertising and also we can infer what's like the location of a region which is broadcasted. Thus, it is reasonable to say that many countries or regions still make most of the advertisements to their profits. |
