▶ Your Answer :It has been argued that money should be
given to children to encourage them to study hard and get high grades at
school. I disagree that money can be a motivator of studying of children for
the two reasons. First, the effect of giving money is not constant effect for
child. Second. Children's friends can help to study hard through competition
and other sources.
First of all, money only has small impact
on encouraging children to study hard. Parents have tendency to give money to
their children as the reward of their high grades. Of course, child can be
motivated by the monetary rewards. However, it can be useless if children do
not need money. For example, let me give two children of my cousin for an
example. One of them really wanted to buy new computers. He studied hard and
got higher grades that he ever had got. Therefore, my cousin gave computers to
him. However, another child doesn’t need anything and just played outside with
his friends. Of course, his grade at school was not good. In this regards,
Money is not the best method to encourage students to concentrate on studying
at school.
Moreover, Friends of children can play key
role on studying hard at school. Although parents want to make their children
to study hard, children spend lots of time with their friends on and out of
school. Naturally, Friends have more impact on grades of children at school.
Study from Harvard University shows that peer pressure affects all the things
of children ranged from grades to evolving characteristics. The study also
states that friends of children are critical factor to affect grades of
children at school. As the study shows, high grades of children are not from
money but from friends.
To sum up, I disagree that monetary rewards
for high grades of children is good method for the reasons that I have
mentioned above. First, some children do not want to get money. Second, friends
of children can have more impact on studying at school.
