▶ Your Answer :This disputed matter is regularly brought to mind. Logically, people who grew up diverse environments maintain various understanding towards the issue. In my opinion, it is better to obtain information from a wide variety of news sources with the following reasons. First of all, each of the news has different ways of details. By and large, each of various news has different position about some issues. They may be influenced by political pressure, or they just have another different view about matters. For this reason, there are many different details about the same issue that they deal with. In this sense, if we read manifold news sources, then surprisingly we could have numerous information and details about the matters and I believe that this makes us brilliant, so that we could not be confounded by innumerous types of information from the sources. For example, when I was in my high school, we used to read news papers and cut out some useful articles from the news papers. I read not only one news source, but also other news sources like foreign news papers. I just read news papers for educational purpose. However, as time went by, I could compare with domestic paper that I initially read and the foreign news papers that I read later together. It was very interesting. This is because, when they deal with the same topic in paper, the fact related to the topic was similar to both. On the other hand, interestingly each had slightly different details about the topic. I thought it was due to the matter of positions. In short, I found myself that could distinguish whether the information of the news was good information or not. Furthermore, I firmly believe that reading one news source is very dangerous in terms of objectivity. To explain, as I mentioned, each of news sources has different positions about social issues. Some of them may have the same viewpoint but most of them have distinct viewpoints. This may make us to be confused and we may lose our judgement suddenly. Since the press has powerful influence on the public, it is easy for us to lose our objectivity, and then we could have prejudice. As a result, if people merely accept a wide range of information from only one news source, the democracy obviously would be ruined. Therefore, we ought to strengthen our perspective by reading through diverse news sources in all sorts of positions. Nowadays, since admitting one’s idea is being important, we need to consider other information from other news sources rather than gaining information from only one news source. Accordingly, we would have careful judgement, then we will be able to make better decision in all objectivity as a great citizen of own country. In conclusion, unquestionably, I believe various news sources provide us with at least the two benefits that I mentioned, such as the objectivity and the perspective. For those reasons, various news sources are far preferable. |
