There may be pros and cons regarding the argument that because environmetal issues are too complex, individuals can do nothing about them. I am in complete agreement with this argument. In this paper, I elaborate on the two strong reasons for my position.
First of all, although individuals can not resolve environmetal issues, goverment can solve the compelx environmental issues by developing young scientist’s untapped talents. Modern-day young scientists live in hectic lives, because today’s globalized society is increasingly comptitive and constantly changing. Consequently, it is difficult for them to pursue the kinds of study that they prefer. Especially, many environmental research are not conducted sufficiently because they do not make much profits compared to the time required. This makes it crucial for goverments to support young scientist’s environmental study and help them tap into their full potential. In this context, goverment can handle environmental problems by supporting young scientist’s work about preserving environment. According to a survey carried out by Columbia University, environmental scientists who are under the close support of goverment, could develop their potentials faster and have more efficiency on performing their research than before. The majority of the surveyed experts argued that these research have a hugely positive impact on handling environmental issues.
Moreover, environmental problems are so complicated that individuals can not dealt with them. Rather, goverment can makes soultions from envioronmetal issues. This is because govermental campaigns can provide people lesson on ethics about environment. Some people who are mentally immature have a long way to go before they become grown-ups. During this long journey they tend to make many mistakes and are prone to misbehave. However, they can be guided by govermental campaign, which teach them etiquette and social norms for preservation of environment. In this context, the value of goverment’s role in handling environmental issues cannot be overlooked. For example, growing young people may give in to the temptation of throwing away their garbage everywhere because they are too young to judge right from wrong. This is why govermental campaigns for environment is an urgent need. Through the environmental campaign, they could avoid such temptations and become law-abiding citizens, by knowing about the seriousness of environmental problems. Through such campaign, they can have a good manner toward environment.
Because of the reasons explained above, I strongly maintain that instead of individuals, goverment can deal with environmental issues more efficiently. |
