▶ Your Answer : It
is evident in our society that how we spend money has a tremendous importance
in our lives. Some people think that universities should not spend money on
sports, while others do not. I however, believe that universities should spend
money on sports as they do on libraries. There are several reasons that I could
discuss to support my argument, so I will limit my discussion to the two that I
feel the most relevant to the topic: the concepts of relationships and success.
First
of all, the most important reason for my feeling this way is that students can
have a better social life. Individualism is hindering us from socializing
nowadays. Thus, it can be said that it is better for university to spend money
on sports because students need to expand their social network. Recent news
report I watched on the Korean Broadcasting System revealed some interesting
findings. Essentially, students did not have a proper social life because they
did not join the sports club. According to a study in a report, a surprising
number of students claimed that they were lonely due to the lack of
face-to-face interactions with others. A student at Kang Nam University who was
interviewed mentioned that she cannot meet new people when she cannot join
sports club. Had she joined football club, she would have felt less lonely.
This report clearly shows that universities should spend money on sports as the
do on libraries because of relationships.
Second,
another reason which supports my point is that students are more likely to
achieve greater success. Commonly in society, many people get ahead of the game
by utilizing their experience. If universities spend their money on sports,
students will obtain the broad experience which is necessary to success. A really
good example can be seen is JS Kye. I read online that Kye, the CEO of Speaking
Factory, achieved great success because he enjoys the sports when he was in
college. Kye, utilizing his vast knowledge, transformed his company into one of
the most profitable education enterprises in Korea. In one of his interviews,
he mentioned that he was able to join sports when he was in college. He learned
many expressions he could not learn from books. This helped him consider
various perspectives while creating Easy Speaking: one of the most successful
English books ever made in Korea. This example clearly shows that universities
should spend money on sport as the do on libraries because of success.
All
things considered, with the reasons mentioned above, I believe that I have sufficiently
and adequately explained my position on the matters regarding this topic. |
