It is debatable whether comprehending the past is crucial to being able to tackle problems facing us now and in the future. This is an intriguing question because opinions concerning this can be different relying on individual perspectives. In my opinion, however, I agree with the statement for the following subsequent two reasons. To begin with, modern people can learn how to handle their daily problem properly from the past because the same events occur again and again throughout human history. Human has existed from a historic period, numerous people had the same rotation such as being born, getting older, and death. Although the technical level and circumstances may different between periods, their wisdom of life would be helpful for modern people to live a sensible life. Therefore, if people try to learn from the people who lived in the past, they can get a lot of valuable information from them. For example, when I was a freshman, I had a hard time for being in trouble with my friend. I did not know how to solve this problem smoothly. However, I accidentally found a book in the library, it gave me a solution by telling an old fable about how to deal with a human relationship. The book said to me to apologize first. I quickly adopted this, so I could be a close friend with him again. On top of that, it is easier to renovate an invention of the past than create completely a new one. In fact, it is self-explanatory that modification is much more convenient than creation. We can assure this by studying the history of technological advances. Thus, the development based on the past would make modern people overcome their obstacles and improve themselves. For instance, I graduated from university, and my major is material science engineering. I had a lot of experiment to invent new electronical materials when I was a university student, most of them were processed by adding a little modification to the one which has already created a long time ago. Through this experience, I realized that all inventions are not the result of truly inventive creations. In a nutshell, a solution to our concern can be found on the past's example. Moreover, a little modification achieves a significant enhancement. In this regard, I strongly believe that it is important for people who live today to understand the past. |
