Undoubtedly, cars and vehicles play a vital role in our lives, so it is highly debatable whether today’s people have become too dependent on automobiles. In general, the consensus view seems to be that people nowadays are too much dependent on auto-vehicles. In my opinion, however, I firmly believe that today’s people are independent on automobiles.
First and foremost, modern people are not dependent on auto-vehicles because they tend to put emphasis on their healthy life. To be specific, the social trend was considered by the importance of individuals’ well-being life. Through such current, people concerning their health boost their physical balance by taking a walk or riding a bicycle. Furthermore, this stream encourages people to use their car when they just need. For instance, there is a poll conducted by the Johns Hopkins University with 200 professors having own automobile as a respondent. The purpose of the survey is to understand about the importance of using their vehicle in terms of health. The majority of respondents said that they used their car when commuting their workplaces which are located in long distances. An overwhelming 89 percent responded that they give their car free time every weekend in order to go to a park near their home and taking a walk with their family members.
In addition, modern people tend to consider air pollution seriously. Obviously, air pollution is one of the irrevocable environmental resources. Specifically, cars and automobiles cause micro-dust and greenhouse gases which can damage our lives deadly and are the main cause of the global warming. As today’s world is becoming industrialized, most of the governments put a high priority on the environment, and many people want to contribute to the better air conditions. For example, Korea is suffering from serious environmental air pollution. Thus, the Korean Government held a campaign to reduce car production and the dependence of automobiles. Hence, Korean received a lot of bicycles and advocated such campaign, using their cars less. This demonstrates that modern people seriously recognize the harmful impact on our environment that automobiles create.
In conclusion, taking the importance of our healthy life and air pollution such as global warming into consideration, I strongly believe that today’s people are independent on automobiles. Never should we forget that this issue may have a huge impact on the future.
