There are quite a number of people arguing that dancing has just a minor effect on a culture when it is compared to other genres of art. However, I strongly disagree with their argument because of its historical background and importance as a part of art without language.
To begin with, it should be recognized that dancing has been considered to be of essence historically. To be specific, most of cultural ceremonies include dancing as a critical element. For example, there was always dancing in confucious ceremonies in the history of Chosun dynasity in Korea. Traditional dancers were even invited in ritual ceremonies for former kings, as well as in pleasant balls. This is also repeated under the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Korea to conserve invaluable cultral heritages. Considering these findings, it can be derived that dancing has been playing a key role in a culture.
On top of that, dancing is known as a major genre of art. It is a way of expressing emotion and ideas that cannot be explained with a language. One of the best example to portray this is a movie named Billy Ellot. It tells you a story of a little English boy who was attracted by ballet and its own unique beauty. Even though his father disagreed with his playing, but his enthusiasm let him go out of his way and finally his father became one of his supporter. All this change was possible due to the power to move one's mind of dancing.
In conclusion, dancing has been an important part of art because of its historic value and unique way to express. If you haven't tried to appreciate dancing, I would recommend you seeing a performance, then you can also feel why it is. |
