There are many people who prefer to stay one place in their whole lives because they fear the change of environment or of moving and adaptation costs. However, it is obvious that we can get valuable chances if we move a number of times throughout our lives.
To begin with, we can get the chance to have diverse experiences and to meet various people if we move a lot of times. These things could not be given to people staying one place throughout their lives since there is the limitation of experience for them. More importantly, the diverse experiences and interaction with different people from new places broaden our perspectives, making us to have better conditions. To illustrate this point, I have an old friend who has to move once a year because of his some religious’ reason. I could find out that whenever he gets in trouble of something, he always drew upon the past experiences taken from other places to find a solution, and his solution was very effective. On the other hand, in same problem with him, I could not find such an effective solution. As this example illustrates, the experiences from different places are very useful.
Furthermore, we also can raise the ability to adapt new environment by moving place to place. This is because adaptation is inevitable to live in an unfamiliar place. This adaptability may be beneficial for many aspects of our lives. To give a simple example, given innovative goods such as computer, we can quickly understand the way of its process and know what function it has. However, people staying one place are utterly conservative: they tend to be reluctant to accept unfamiliar things. They thus not even try to adapt new things. In this global generation, since many innovative goods come out at short intervals, adaptability must be required.
To conclude, I strongly believe that moving place to place is better than staying in one place. As I mentioned above, this is not only because we can have diverse experience and meet various people, but because we can raise adaptability. |
