Spending a great amount of time pracitising sports can bring both positive and negative impacts to young children. The advantages are related to thier state of health and development of social skills. On the other hand, the disadvantages may include lack of time contributed to other activities.
First of all, it is a scientifically verified fact that sports foster young children's growth and development. It strengthens their bones, joints and muscles and also, prevents numerous diseases varying from influenza to cancer. To illustrate, my younger brother was obesed due to a minuscule amount of time for exerciese but a huge amount of time glued on the computer games. The obesity was actually reached the dangerous stage that can be led to side symptoms such as high blood pressure and diabetes. It was when he started to play sports half forceably by the parents that he became healthy and even muscular. Through reflecting his experiece, the fact that sports enhances one's health is learnt.
Moreover, sports stimulate social skills. Sports usually require cooperatoin and collective efforts in order to achieve the victory. To illustate, playing soccer is the best example. Soccer does not only need individual skills and talents but teamwork. They have to pass the ball to each other to confuse the opponents, encourage each other through out the long-run game and show care to the ones who are injured. Also, young children are tend to form decent relationship with teammates and coaches since they gather up everyday for intense practises. Through these routines, they instill a spirit of cooperation and practical social skills naturally.
However, if they focus too much time only in sports, it wiil inevitably affect their school study. Since sports require harsh physical activities, by the time they finish practising they would be exhausted. There will be no time spared for studying. Additionally, less chances to experience other activities such as learning musical instruments, travelling overseas and meeting new people. The reason is that they can possibly miss any of practises since it requires every players' participation to accompolish a sense of belonging and teamwork.
In conclusion, I believe in the saying "the sound mind in a sound body." Even though it can take up large amount of time, no one can deny the fact that sports is beneficial physically and mentally.
