In this rapidly changing world, it is becoming clear that those who are inflexible and afraid of change are unlikely to succeed. When it comes to jobs, while some argue that it is ideal to work for the same company for people's entire lives, I agree that it is unrealistic to remain at one firm because doing so prevents them from performing thier best and finding well-suited positions.
First, working for the same company decreases one's productivity. This is because if people work at the same company too long, they often become weary of the work, which makes it difficult to work to their fullest potential. For example, a recent study showed that employees who have been working for over ten years produce 30 percent less than new employees who have been working for under two years at the same firm. This is because they become fed up with the same work, people who they meet, and monotonous work atmosphere. The study also mentioned that due to this same daily routine, their work seems very dull and this hinders them from performing their best.
Second, experiences gained from working in many companies help workers choose the right one for them. This is because they find the company that best utilizes their skills and challenges their abilities. For instance, my sister has worked in many different companies, from a huge conglomerate(대기업) to a small company with three employees. My parents were disappointed whenever she told them that she was going to switch companies. However, she said that she wants to find the perfect company for her. In the end, she found her dream job at a workplace that suited her. If she had chosen to stay at one company, she would not have been able to find the right type of career for herself.
In short, it is impractical to work for the same company since it leads to lower productivity. Futhermore, by experiencing different workplaces, people are better able to choose the right career path for their talents. Although the stability of working for one company is appealing, it prevents employees from truly growing in their professional lives. |
