With the rapid increase in technology, information learned from school is often outdated within a few years. But students can obtain priceless their own study skill which is indispensible factor for success of them by studying various kinds of studies. and I believe students, in school, entrench their base of all knowledge by learning various fields of studies such as mathematics, language, history. I think none of which are not important because these subjects will help them to understand more deep disciplines.
Every building has its buttress which sustains huge body of building. Without strong base, the buildings would be likely to tear down. Knowledge has the same mechanism in that, if one student lacks what it takes to absorb higher level of knowledge, he or she is not capable of achieving upper level of knowledge. For example, Chul-su-An who is highly praised for his accomplishments in computer science were medicine major at first. Although he had taken the doctors degree in medicine he decided to change his way into computer science when his age was 25years old. Then he has become very successful. He was able to change his major in spite of big differences between two majors because of his wide range of base knowledge that he diligently studied when he was undergraduates.
Above all, I think the university is the place where students gain experience by getting shallow knowledge of all kind of studies. All freshmen take the mandatory writing, language, history, and math class. This is because most educators believe the more kinds of study they learn the more sophisticated studying skills they will get. It is true. For example, students learn what is really important after graduation by experience real world striving for solving problem on their own by using study skills obtained from school If it hadn’t been for many experiences in school they would have trouble handling problems.
All in all, I strongly believe that students must learn as many subjects as possible when they are still undergraduates. It is not too late to study specific field of study when they enter the graduate school. Because, I think wide range of base knowledge and studying skills will benefit them to get much deeper knowledge efficiently in the future.
