Recently, the natural ecosystem and environment have been destroyed with some human causing factors such as deforestation, desertification, global warming and so on. As a result of these occurrence, occurrences, a number of species of animals and plants have been put into dangers and the number of these animals revolutionarily declined for the last few decades. Zoos, which were considered not at all practial, are now being believed to play an important role in protection of these endangered animal species and allowance for people to observe them.
To begin with, zoos serve to safeguard animal species that are in perils of extinction. In the nature, animals face risks of competing for their food, loosing their habitations by environment destruction, and being hunted by predators and human beings. For instance, pandas, which were particular to the south Chinese region, were once categorized as an endangered animal as more people tried to hunt the bear type. However, Chinese government decided to institute a number of zoos in order to protect them. Now the number of this bear increased to the origin.
In addition, zoos permit people to encounter animals that are non-regional. In other words, people can see and observe animals that are not familiar to them in their geographical region. For one example, people living in hot and humid areas would not have been able to see or even know how penguines look like. Zoos renders education by displaying rare animals.
It is not arguable that zoos cause many inconvenience in the neighboring areas such as air pollution and sound pollution. However, I strongly believe that zoos take important role in our lives and should be existing.
