I read an article yesterday claiming that more than 54% of students who have done home schooling are likely to fell in to depression or in juvenile deliquency. This strucked my thoughts because I always regarded this method of studying as beneficial.I also learned the fact that students who are studying at home have more percentage of getting distracted by the computer games or watching TV programs. Therefore, I believe that it is more profitable for us to study at traditional schools owing to the adavantage in interacting with other companions or elevating concentration.
To start off, studying at schools enable students to meet companions. Commuicating and exchanging information with each other would certainly benefit the students on upholding their friendships and getting rid of gloominess they felt during the day. According to the statistics made by the Seoul National University, more than 64% of students who have studied by home schooling would fall in to depression due to the lack of interexchange with friends. Of course, there is a indirect method to contact friends using messangers or emails. However, the science experiment states that indirect contact are not as influential as the direct procedures of communicating. I have done home schooling when I was in preschool and I always felt solitary as I was not able to play with my friends. Conversely, everyday when I played and talked with my friends, my bliss seemed to peak.
Second, not studying at school mesmerize students with other factors to play with. Surely, computers and televisions have copious elements which could inveigle students from studying. Studying with these mass media would be the same for students. Owing to the fact that teachers who teach by home schooling can not govern students to see if they are studying practically, students would gradually lack concentration and will not be able to fully understand the tutoring. On the other hand, studying at traditional schools would gain in their studying efficiency because teachers are always observing them. When I was doing the home schooling in preschool, I would occasionally play computer games while listening to the teachings by the teacher and I was never caught. However, I always got low scores in my test. Also the statistics made by the Korea Goverment prove that more than 84% of students who experienced both traditional schoolings and home schoolings asserted that traditional schoolings were more effective in stimulating studying levels.
In conclusion, the home schooling handicaps students by not only altering the communication rate with companions in school, but also hindering them from studying well. If there is a way to satisfy the drawbacks in home schooling, it might be the recommendable way for students to educate more productively. |
