Topic : using public transportation vs. owing a car
Some people are reluctant to use public transportation, because it is sometimes time-consuming and uncomfortable. However, in my opinion, taking public transportation could be a good idea in regard to lowering both pollution and traffic congestions.
To begin with, having a car can have negative influences on society in terms of environment. People who have their own cars usually fail to notice that the number of cars causes air pollution. According to research, exhaust smoke caused by cars is the main reason for air pollution. In addition, lots of cars can lead to noise pollution. If people use public transportation such as subways, buses and trains, the roadway will not be crowded with many cars and it will contribute to better living conditions in our city too.
Furthermore, using public transportation is a much better way for people who want to be on time and save money. It is true that many people commute in the morning. However, the road doesn’t have enough capacity compared to the number of cars on the road. Thus, it causes the roads to be congested. It wastes a lot of time and makes people irritated. Not only that, but gas is expensive as well. Because nowadays oil prices are soaring, it can be burdensome to people buying it.
For the reasons above, using public transportation will be a more effective way than owing a car. Of course, using public transportation has its disadvantages, for example, inconvenience or the lack of transportation systems, but governments can compensate for some negative factors and should play an important role to promote people to use public transportation.
