Some people may argue that college students must learn about a culture of another country. However, from what I think, college students shouldn't be ordered to take at least one course that teaches them the culture of another country because of a few reasons.(few는 부정적인 의미입니다. )
First, I don't think, learning a diffrent culture helps so much. This is because what it teaches is mostly limited to two things : pure information about the culture and "a broader insight into seeing the world" as the adherents to this argument claim. However, there are plenty of other courses that offer not only things mentioned above, but also provide even more useful ideas to students. To illustrate, the subject, history gives information about not only one, but various cultures of foreign countries throughout the past and the present, and even lets the learners see the future by showing them the wisdom of our ancestors.
Additionally, not many students would benefit from learning about a culture of another country because it only gives a few advantages to the learners, as I had mentioned above. Therefore, college students should rather do something else than spending their precious time on taking the unhelpful course. For example, they can either use that time to improve what they are already learning or minor, other subject, related to their major. In this way, they can see what they are spending their time and effort on actually helps.
In sum, I belive believe it's ineffective to take make taking a course about a culture of another country obligatory because studying it is neither helpful nor time-effecient. |
