Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? University students should be required to attend classes. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. |
Many university students feel free when they enter the university because everything is self-determination such as selecting lectures which they take. However, some people insist that universities make their students attend classes compulsively. Yet, I firmly believe that attending classes when they want and need is better and more effective.
To start with, attending classes when they want helps the atmosphere of the class more concentrated atmosphere. There are only students who really want to take lectures and study. Accordingly everyone in the class pay much attention to the professor. Therefore, the quality of education can be improved. If students have to come to the class compulsively because of the school policy, they don't really focus on the lecture and neglect their duties such as sending text messages during classes with their cell phones. Consequently, universities should let students attend the class freely.
Next, university students can experience a variety of things except school lectures. They can go volunteer camp abroad or participate in the internship program which companies provide them with. If they take part in social programs, they can learn 'real' and 'living' studies. For example, there is one senior in my high school. He attends Korea university and he majors in management so he tries to keep company with many enterprisers. He thinks that the good relationship with them will take a good effect on him later so he tries, like attending frims' fairs. Therefore, he becomes acquainted with many CEOs in Korea. However, he gives up to get great grades at school so he doesn't get good grades. As you know from this example, schools should help students make more valuable experiences by let them freely.
In conclusion, letting students attend classes which they want and when they want make positive effects on students. Universities have to make change to the way students can get benefits. Therefore, they should not practice the mandatory attending policy for students. |
