Friends and co-workers often ask me "Which do you prefer to live in between big city and small town?" While some people might prefer to live in a small place without complex lives and air-pollution, I prefer living in a big city because to live in a large-size city facilitates a more convenient as well as interesting way of life.
First of all, living in a big city has made it possible to use a lot of public transportation with great ease and a small amount of time. For example, since I live in New York City, I have many options to use transportation systems. New York City is distinguished from other cities in the U.S by its significant use of public transportation such as subways, buses and taxis. It is very convenient to commute and travel for a reasonable price. I usually take the subway to go to school on time. While the trains are occasionally delayed for some reasons, trains run every two or three minutes during rush hours and is the way to go for speed. If I live in a small town where this transportation is not provided, I would be better off to purchase the vehicle as well as the automobile insurance. It could impose additional financial burdens on many students.
What is more, living in an urban area can be amusing. For instance, I usually visit many places such as museums, galleries and pubic parks on my way back from school in order to refresh my mind as well as enhance my historic and artistic academic knowledge. To visit these places is a getaway from my busy and hectic school life. Moreover, an increasing number of restaurants in Manhattan, such as Korean, Italian, French, Indian and Japanese, allows me to enjoy a unique atmosphere and appetite. As New York City is famous for various kinds of exotic cuisines, the enjoyment of eating is added to the pleasure of living in the big city.
As I mentioned above, I strongly believe that there are many more available opportunities in a big city than in a small town. To save my time and money to utilize public transportation and spend time with great pleasure are more beneficial for my well-being. |
