Basically, I think that it all depends on whether what type of life style people want to live. As we know, however, most of people in modern days live in big cities and people should face a lot of competitions living in modern society. For these reasons, I am in favor of residing in big cities and it is relatively easier for people to obtain good chances such as share of valuable information and experiences of different culture events compared to those who live in small cities.
These days, people tend to be exposed to a harsh competition in order to get a job or good careers because Capitalism requires people to acquire more knowledge and more experiences. In this situation, it can be more favorable for people to live in big cities. For example, students who live in big cities like Seoul, the capital of South Korea, can obtain a lot of information on top universities from private academies or other friends. However, in case of students who live in small cities, it is very hard for them to get valuable information on it because their residential environments are very poor.
Also, living in metropolitan, people can enjoy a variety of culture events like a live performance concert, hot movies, or a play around their surroundings, while it is relatively hard for residents in small cities to experience different kinds of events because culture facilities like a concert hall or a movie theater need a lot of customers but there are not enough customers to demand it. For instance, one of my cousin who live in countryside was very surprised at impressive culture facilities in Seoul because the region he lived in is so poor that he couldn’t get a chance to enjoy a concert, movie theater, and so on.
In conclusion, it is hard to decide whether which kinds of residential environments are better. However, I think that it becomes necessary for people to live in big cities because of harsh competitions and a lot of valuable information. What is definite is that it is not easy for people to deny advantages of living in big cities because it provides necessary things like information, knowledge, and leisure |
