It is often said that these days people pay excessive attention to how they look. Some people may be opposed to this statement because human beings have been interested in their appearance since early ages. However, in my opinion, this tendency became more extreme. There are a number of reasons why I feel this way but to make matters simple, I will shorten my discussion to two arguments. Firstly appearance becomes a very significant factor in our society. Secondly, most students who look great are popular and beloved.
To begin with, a lot of people think that society requires people to have a good-looking. This is because good looking person has special advantage in society. For example, many job seekers had plastic surgery to get their jobs. According to Ministry of Labor in Korea 2007, the number of people who underwent plastic surgery had doubled over the last five years. This implies that the better people look, the more chances there are to get their work.
In addition, even high school students pay too much attention to their looking. My son is the best example which demonstrate this point. He spends more than 30 minutes on choosing what to wear every morning. This is due to the fact that he wants to beloved and have good popularity from girls in his class room. However, since his interest in appearance is too high, he doesn’ have enough time to study or do his homework.
All things considered, people in our current society both adults and students put too much their emphasis on how they look. This is different from the age when I was young late 1900s. I think it might be a social problem so we have to be careful this extreme tendency.
