Some people think that it is not necessary for all university students should to be required to take at least one class that teaches the culture of a country other than their own. Maybe they think it is not useful to learn about the culture of the other country. However, in my opinion, I think that all university students should be taken taking the class of the other country’s culture. It is because of that students can understand their own country better, and they could have a lot of opportunities to get a job.
First, it provides many opportunities for students to find job. I think that a language is the representative culture of one country. As students learn other culture, they also study other languages. Therefore, they are able to look for a job in other countries. For example, 6 years ago, in my country, economic situation was so deadly. So it was so hard for students to get a job in my country. But some students who can could speak well foreign language well did not worry about finding a job. They went abroad where they could speak the appropriate language and to be hired.
Second, it helps students to understand their own country better. It They can compare their own culture and other country, and think critically about their own culture them. Eventually, students can also think deeply with by themselves. In my case, in my first year student, I took the 'understanding of Japanese culture' class. Then I could understand about the historical relationship of my country and Japan. So I realized that I did not well know well what about my country. After the class, I made more effort to be aware of my country('s situation).
In conclusion, I strongly believe that it is necessary for students to attend at least one course about the culture of other country due to the fact of that the(these) above reasons. As the old saying goes on, ‘Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.’ Through knowing about many different cultures, students can have wide-open eyes. |
