▶ Your Answer :
Can we say that people must get information from many different news sources in order to be well-informed? In some sense, people seem to get enough information through only one material. From a long consideration, however, I believe that people should obtain information from different news sources to stay well-informed. This is due to the fact that people can get details as well as correct errors through different materials.
First of all, different news resources allow people to correct wrong information. In reality, even though news materials must report truth, they sometimes misinform people. Nevertheless, if people not only read a newspaper but also watch a newscast, they can determine whether the facts in the news materials are true or not. To take my personal experiences as an example, I read a newspaper every morning and I also watch a newscast every night. One day, I found out the two materials have an opposite information, and then I searched other internet news to correct it. By doing so, I can stay well-informed without any wrong information. Had it not been for various news resources, I could not have had such accurate information. In this sense, there is no doubt that using different news materials is greatly advantageous in terms of avoiding wrong information.
In addition to correcting errors, a variety of news materials provide people with more details. In other words, using various news resources is helpful in obtaining detailed information. In fact, each news source contains different details because of the lack of space. Thus, if people get information from various kinds of news resources, they can be well-informed by seeing more details; otherwise, people who stick to a single material would have difficulty in understanding the situation that an article describes. For instance, my friend Jennifer read two kinds of newspapers and she realized that each of them deals with other details although they are both correct. Without the additional material, she would not understand details completely. As shown above, it is needless to say that consulting various news resources helps people know information more specifically.
