There is a controversy over/on whether television affects our lives more than telephone. Some people may think telephone has affected our lives stronger than television because we can communicate with each other even in a distant place. However I agree with the given statement (question). I'll give several reasons as follows.
First of all, television has affected our lives in cultural way. Since we can watch the programs from other countries, we are easily affected by their culture. For example, when I was so little/young that I didn't notice there is other language, I watched a soap opera on television. I wasn't able to understand what they said at all. So I was so curious about that. Since then I started to watch those foreign programs more often. I became familiar with foreign culture, especially their attitudes (action), language and culture (language 도 culture 에 포함됩니다. 따라서 culture 말고 다른 단어를 넣어주시는 것도 좋을 것 같네요..). That's why I become, finally, understand their culture more than my peers.
Second, television improved increased quality of our lives. Since there are many commercials and soap operas, we become to feel the desire of buying products and changing our life styles. In my mother's case, television was introduced at the time when my mom was young little. She watched the television programs especially soap operas. She was so impressed by the luxurious lives in those operas that decided to live like them. She tried to earn as much money as she can. Therefore she was able to buy a big house and enjoy shopping as much as she wanted.
Third, television made family members get together/closer toghther. So the family ties have has become stronger since it was made. For instance, my family members usually get together in front of television. We watch the news and talk about the issues on the news. I feel our my family members tie becomes stronger.
In short, I believe television affected our lives in that it affected since it gave impacts on our recognition recognization about foreign culture, enhanced/improved the quality of our lives and made family ties stronger. In conclusion, I think television has greater effects effectiveness in terms of close proximity to us and to numerous programs of throughout every country.
