Schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. |
Before a while, Korean government tried to make a law which allows students to evaluate their teachers. Then it said the evaluation would be reflected on teachers' promotion or their pay. Howeer, this will cause many side effects and will harm the relationships between teachers and students. Therefore, I'm against that schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers.
To start with, students are just the students who need learning. Although a teacher's ability is not great and many students are dissatisfied, there is at least one thing that they can learn from him or her. Because anyway she or he majored in the specific subject and studied deepley, she or he has a little competency. For instance, there is one literature teacher in my school. He is very kind and good person but his lecture is so boring and he talks too slowly. Most students doze in his class. However, contents in his lecture is not that useless. If one students listens to his lecture continually, it can make a big development, I think.
Furthermore, teachers cannnot help changing to the way students like. They don't scold students and rebuke anymore. To get good points and evaulation from their pupils, they only do interesting and playful things in class. Then, it's easy for them to miss some important and deep things such as philosophy. Also, they have to guide students to the right way but they will not do that. The teachers have to practice the popularism policies because they are afraid of the evaluations. As they are reflected on teachers' pay and promotion, teachers cannot ignore the evaluation by students in reality.
To sum up, schools should not ask students to evaluate their teachers. They are not qualified to evaluate their teachers. Also, if students evalutate teachers, the education goes to the way that popularism is prevalent. In order to keep good state of education, government should not allow the appreciation of teachers by students. |
