There is an age-old saying that "Money can't buy a happiness." This asserts an idea that despite many byproducts that money brings along, intangible materials such as emotions or love cannot be acheived through making a lot of money. In this competitive society where materialism and possessions are vital, it seems true that money is preferred to anything else. However, I personally believe that even though money help to enjoy a lot of previleges, over a long term, living a comfortable and satisfactory life is more important and worthwhile.
First of all, we all should now realize that all those would rather be a burden afterall. Think about all that huge rooms and clothes to clean and wash! What about a limo that is so long that it hardly makes a turn at the corner? It is such a chaotic and burdensome life with all those luxuries. When riches eat dinner they have to make reservation at really expensive restaurant. They cannot even wear pajamas or training pants to those kind of places. Then, compare us to them. Majority of us are enjoying such a carefree life, without worries choosing what to wear to the burger joint. We are never concerned about our expensive and luxurious jewelries that might get stolen-since we do not own them! It is actually a frustrated and insecured life to own a large amount of money.
Besides, comfortable life with satisfaction provides a healthy mindset. Even there was a boom with "well-being." It literally emphasized one to become a well being, by eating foods we can get easily, avoiding oily food, and jog around compound in the morning if there is a time. This "well-being" life suggests a life without rigid strucutre and obsession with materials. It is just to live a life as who we are, appreciating how we live with what we have.
Clearly, it is an inevitable reality that our society is depraved with obssession of money. Even many youngsters desire to become a millionaire rather than a happy person without limo or huge mansions. However, it is important that we can still live a life that is worth a million dollars, or even more. One who envies the lives of riches will have to chase their lives without maintaing one's own life. When one becomes the true owner of his or her life, with satisfaction and comfort, then there is no doubt that latter is superior. |
