It is very complex to determine whether people are adults or children, but an authentic truth is only physical differences could not be a standard. The standard will vary person to person, but in my opinion, having jobs and marriage lead children to be an adult.
If people have jobs, they will naturally have to be responsible for their own actions. When it comes to children, they are allowed to make some mistakes, follow the discipline that their parents made, and the most important thing, they do not have to care carefully about their life. However, in jobs, there is no one who could truly give help when people encounter difficulties. People have to consider social responsibilities, caring about every word and action they made. No summer or winter vacations, no rest, no fancy dream and no genuine consideration from others. They have to struggle to 'survive' from competitive society. Overall factors will make children be more mature and independent, leading them to be an adult.
Moreover, by going through marriage, children could become an adult since they will gain duties as a member of family. They will realize they have to take care of not only themselves, but also their family. To be more specific, suppose one person lost his job amid economic crisis. If he is not married, he will not be that depressed because it could easily handle his own life. However, when he has wife and children, he could not simply ignore the situation. This is mainly because his job could be directly connected with the life of whole family. Hence, he has to have responsibility and endeavor for the family. I believe when people have to take change of their family, they will naturally be more mature. Then, they could be called as an adult.
In conclusion, having job and marriage could be important factors for children to become an adult. The more people become independent, the closer their will be to the statue; adult. |
