Along with the emergence of numerous urban cities, many large shopping centers have also became apparent. Along with this tendency, it has been a contentious issue as to whether or not building a large shopping center in a neighbourhood is appropriate. Thoroughly analyzing relevent examples of my rationale and my friends case, it becomes quite clear that building a shopping center has certain drawbacks to be dealth with.
First of all, to put it short, shopping centres are not environmentally friendly. What does a shopping center bring to the community? It is quite self-explanatory to say that department stores bring pollution. Trucks carrying groceries, cars going in the shopping centre and litter are all but pollution. Ofcourse, may critics may claim that these are regular features that can be found anywhere. However, the scale of contamination we're dealing with is different. The world is already dealing with many issues concerning pollution for example global warming. As humans, we must try our best to alleviate this issue, not to strengthen and make it worse. Likewise, shopping centers are harmful to the environment and therefore should not be built.
Moreover, my friend's case serves as an excellent example that delves into the disadvantages of shopping centres. When my friend was a middle-schooler, a shopping center was built in her community. At first, it had many benefits. Her town became well known and it became extremely convenient for her. However, as time went by, people came to know more about the department store and this caused an increase in traffic. One day, she was crossing the road and in the middle of the crossing, she was nearly hurt. A car had raced towards her and had thankfully stopped a foot away from her. Truly, if the shopping center was not built, my friend wouldn't have had to experience such a dangerous situation. The shopping center precluded the town from safety which may have been even fatal.
As a concluding remark, we have seen the detrimental consequences of building a shopping center. Both my rationale and close examination of my friend's case tells us so. The emergence of a modern building may sound rational, however the reality is just another element that brings insecurity and contamination. |
