It is often said that the quality of education is not depending on teacher's salary because a teacher is not working for a high paycheck. However, I believe that increasing teacher's salary have an impact on the quality of eduaction for the following two reasons: a high paycheck motivates teachers and many people would long for this job.
To begin with, Although the purpose of being a teacher is not a high paycheck, it is an undeniable fact that teacher can be motivated by it. This is because a high paycheck is the result of a teacher's hard work. Thus, they tend to put more effort to their work. For example, my school decided to raise tuition fee to increase teacher's salary last year. After this decision was confirmed, I could clearly see that most teachers worked harder than they did before. One of my teachers mentioned that she was motivated by getting a high paycheck because she felt like she has to be more responsible for her work to deserve it.
In addition, if a teacher's salary is increased, teaching job would attract many people. In turn, a competition would be enhanced since many talented people will try out to be a teacher. Thus, the quality of education would be improved. According to the study that is conducted by Seoul National University, when the salary of a job is increased, the number of people who try out, is also proportionally increased because most people prefer a well paying job. Thus, the quality of the job is also improved,
In brief, increasing a teacher's salary would play a significant role in improving the quality of education because it motivates teachers and attract many talented people who are looking for job. All in all, it is necessary to increase a teacher's salary in order to have a better quality of education. |
