It is up to the school to decide whether it is compulsory for students to wear uniforms. Along with this trend, it had been a contentious issue whether or not permiting students to decide what to wear to school is better. Thoroughly analyzing my rationale and my friend's case, it becomes quiet clear that students should wear uniforms.
First of all, wearing uniforms reminds the students of their identity as students. Students are obliged to obey certain rules, such as obeying the teacher's words, acting respectfully to elders and so on. Ofcourse, these sets of rules are not mandatory. They are rather chosen to perform upon the student's conscience. Most of the time, however, a student forgets and misinterpret themselves as students. They are bound to think better of themselves and not stick to these rules. However, a uniform helps the student realize their occupation. Here is a hypothetical case. If there is are two classrooms; with students wearing uniform and the other without wearing uniform, which class is more likely to listen to the teacher? It is simply self-explanatory that the students who are wearing uniforms are more likely to adhere to the set rules offered to students in school. In short, students therefore should wear uniforms.
Moreover, my friend's case serves as an excellent example that delves into the issue of applying uniforms. My friend attended a new school that was built. Therefore, the school was in chaos and they didn't even have a uniform. So, while every students in other schools had uniforms, her school didn't. This, disunity and lack of identity instigated in lack of concentration and rude behaviours in her school. Her school was known to have many students influenced by drugs, alcohol and smoking. However, the following year, the school became much more stabalized. The students now had their uniforms. Suprisingly enough, due to the change in the student's clothing, their attitude and behaviour changed! Many students then realized their status and therefore studied much more harder than the previous year. Truly, the uniforms had a pronounced effect on the students in their performance in both their morality and their academic aspects.
As a concluding remark, we have seen the prominent effect of uniforms upon students. Both my rationale and my close observation of my friend's case tell us how. Going to school in casual clothes many sound rational, however in reality it is just another juvenile approach to education.
